Workshops/Workdays
All will be held in Bare Hands' gallery space for the time being...
Papier-mâché Workdays Begin! Sunday, Sept 5, Noon - 4pm. More Sept days tba. Free because these are workdays...no need for reservations.
Come build skull masks and maybe a few bones. Then decorate a mask for yourself and some for Bare Hands to sell. This year we will also make 150 small masks for children to decorate at the festival. Big thanks to Barbara, Becky & Betty Lawson for running these workdays August - October!! Sep & Oct dates tba. Wear clothes & shoes that can get messy or bring an apron & shoe covers. Bring your stamina, creativity & a snack. We provide supplies and soft drinks.
Sugar Skull Decorating #3 - please reserve a spot for this one ahead of time via email under "Contact - General Information"
Sept dates coming soon, 6pm - 8pm, $10, $5 to repeat, free if you bring in a skull from a previous class to embellish. We now have colored to foil make our skulls even more authentic! The foil makes great crowns, eyes & name plates. Wear get-messy clothes or an apron.
Bring a basket or box (at least 6"x6"x9"deep) to take your skull home. Once it is fully dry it does not need to be sealed up or refrigerated, just kept in a cool dry place. If your skull will be in remembrance of a specific person, you might want to bring tiny plastic items to add to the royal icing decoration that remind you of that person - such as a hat, glasses, cigarette, jewelry. We provide you with an extra large size full skull (about the size of a softball), royal icing, colored foil, inspiration and encouragement.
Memorial Altar Making #2 - please reserve a spot for this one ahead of time via email under "Contact - General Information"
3 Nights: Sept dates coming soon 6pm - 8pm each night $30 per person payable on night 1 Half price to repeat
This 3 night session will give you time to start and possibly finish a small altar for a loved one/s. Bring mementos, copies of photographs, copies of letters or emails, etc. On Nov 2 you can add food, fresh flowers and candles. We provide decoupage materials, glue, scissors, paints, glitter, etc. And cigar boxes. We also have a few apple crates available for $10 extra.
